 Want to get into nature and stretch your legs? Cape May is home to a variety of scenic hiking trails that let you explore the area’s unique ecosystems, from peaceful salt marshes and coastal forests to the Delaware Bay shoreline and oceanfront landscapes. Audubon Society: Did you know Cape May is considered the birding capital for North America? The Cape May Bird Observatory managed by New Jersey Audubon is the place to go to get involved in the action. They offer guided hikes and teach you how to identify birds. Cape May Lighthouse: Want to get a birdseye view of the cape? Climb the 199 steps to the top of the Cape May Lighthouse and see where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean.

World War II Lookout Tower: Step back in time with a visit to the historic World War II Lookout Tower. Climb to the sixth-floor observation deck for panoramic views while learning about Cape May’s important role in protecting the Delaware Bay during World War II. 

 Did you know Cape May played a major role in the fight to end slavery? Many important abolitionists including Harriet Tubman spent time in Cape May. Learn about what they did for the movement by visiting the Harriet Tubman Museum.

Wildwood Aviation Museum: Interested in aviation history? Visit the Wildwood Aviation Museum which is inside an actual World War II hanger. Enjoy learning about aviation and military history.

Museum of America Glass: Want to know how glass is made? Visit the Museum of American Glass where you can watch demonstrations of glass making along with a look at the glasswork done in New Jersey. It’s a bit of a drive but it’s worth it.

Cape May Theater: Want to add a bit of showbiz to your trip? Be sure to catch a show at the Cape May Stage in the historic district of town. This theater brings plays and musicals to you from Broadway and beyond. Check the link to see what’s going on during your visit.

Mini Golf: Challenge your family and friends to a round of mini golf at the many courses throughout Cape May and Villas. One close to the rental is Milky Way Ice Cream and Miniature Golf. If you want one closer to the water, try Sunset Beach Mini Golf with an amazing view of the Delaware Bay. 

Cape May Zoo: Are you an animal lover? Well, if you are you should check out the Cape May Zoo. Even though it’s a small zoo it is packed with so many animals from Lions to Leopards to Lemurs.

Beer tasting: Want to taste some local beers? Check out the Cape May Brewing Co. While tasting the craft beer you can also explore the barrel room with beers that are actively fermenting. They have an indoor tasting room and an outdoor beer garden that is dog friendly.

Wine Tasting:  Raise a glass to your vacation as you explore the local Cape May Wineries. Enjoy tasting local wines while strolling through the beautiful vineyards, listening to live music, or other special events throughout the season.

Beach Plum Market: Visit the Beach Plum Farm located in an Amish style barn. Check out the local produce, meats, jams, and honeys. Walk through their gardens and enjoy their farm to table food prepared in their kitchen.
